That's possible...but that doesn't require HF comms from ground to aircraft.

I saw an AN/ARC-8 still in USAF service in 1970, on a T-29.

The USN didn't use many AN/ARC-8 sets unless the aircraft had been earlier in
USAF service.  The USN equivalent was the post-WWII AN/ARC-25 (combo of the
AN/ART-13 and AN/ARR-15).  I doubt that liaison sets were often used
for local ground support coordination.

The USN did have the AN/ARC-2 in service at the time of the Korean War.
It was intended to be a HF-command-set-all-in-one-box unit, but actually
lived its service time as a low-powered (!!) pseudo-liaison set in some
smaller multi-engine USN and USCG aircraft.

No real argument here with WWII-era.  Korean War era is decidedly different.
