[MRCA] SCR-178/179 Query

I do have a CH-39 for the generator and the spare parts. Also a complete set
in the CH-38. Like Bob said, I am missing the antenna mounts and insulator.
I always thought it would be fun to put it on the air, but, have not done so
yet. Additionally, I have spares for the RX, TX, modulator and battery box.
Several years ago there was a real nice on at the AWA meet in Rochester,
which I should have bought in retrospect. They are neat and rather scarce. -

I know several people with CH-38's and maybe one with a CH-39. A common
problem with the CH-38 is that many if not most are missing the antenna
insulator
mounting castings, the leg sockets and two of the four front door latches.
The latches aren't an insurmountable problem as they were used on a couple
of
other chests. The sockets are sheet metal and could be made. I guess that
if
you had a milling machine and a lot of time you could make the mounts.
The antenna insulator is the other hard to locate item. And the GY-11 Guy.
The antenna mast sections are the same eight as used on the SCR-284. I have
a
few of the MS-56 left. And I and several others have MS-55 and MS-54.
Etc.
Oh, I have a copy of TM 11-231 available.
