Rob, Al et al:

My proposed NVIS AS-2259-like antenna is gonna be big. It's actually a half-wave 80M inverted V and a half-wave 40M inverted V at right angles to each other, just like the AS-2259 that Al brought last year. Will there be enough room at the fairgrounds to have both Ted's open-wire fed doublet and this other wire set erected in the air?

If we decide that there isn't enough room for two of these 80M antennas, then let me suggest a couple/three things. First, I could try to whip up a matching circuit (tuner) to allow a normal pi-output rig (GRC-9?) to better match the wierd impedance of Al's AS-2259 on 3.885. (As I recall from my model, on the other computer, it's somewhere around 30 Ohms and lots of inductive reactance.) This would allow more power INTO the antenna, not just OUT OF the rig.

Secondly, I could bring the full-size 80/40M NVIS thingy I'm building and erect it in the second field position with Rob. We'd need some kind of 3.885 rig, though, unless using my spare TS-570 and battery counts.

Lastly, we might consider setting up this larger antenna out in the parking lot, if permitted, along with a second HF rig (mil or modern.)

     Anyone have comments?
