Dale:
Any freq/channel on 60M ought to work, I suppose. I haven't worked much on this band since the first night it opened (seems to apply to the rest of the US hams, too.)
All:
Regarding HF exercises, if we want to test things, maybe we ought to have an intercom freq available during our tests. Maybe 146.52 or .49 simplex? 51.0 MHz? Do we want to involve other hams outside the Poconos, like maybe K2GW and his EmComm operators in Princeton, NJ? Gary is hot into EmComm activities as the SEC for SNJ (and a college buddy of mine.) He also has tested NVIS antennas and written about them.
I agree that 40M might be our only good band at that time of day. But we could check the web site Al mentioned around the time of the test (assuming web access from Gilbert.)
A thought: Could we obtain permission to set up the AS-2259-equivalent in the parking lot at the event? Way out near the cars? We might be able to keep it up for longer than the fieldex. Any interest?
More to follow, I'm sure.
