[Motorola] Recycling Old Micor/ Mocom 70's?

I know a local to Salem, Oregon ham did a frequency synth control head for
the Mocom 70's using a pair of RCA jacks to send data to/from the mixer in the
control head to the old crystal jacks. I would have to dig around, I actually
have 8 of those sans the heads. He gave the bodies away free at the end of
the hamfest, but not the control heads. I think I still have one with his
'contact me' qsl cards on it...

The recent email regarding old MICOR's hinted to using the PA stage combined
a with more modern low power transceiver would make a nice high power VHF
radio. Has any one put together that combination or the 100w amp from a
MOCOM-70? If so is there some information as to what is needed to accomplish that
recycling? Alternately, has anyone developed a Channel Element frequency
synthesizer for a MICOR or MOCOM-70. Those old boat anchor chassis were very
rugged, and they still fit into a trunk nicely. The result would be a great
receiver and a big 110W output, it would be a very good mobile. I have one of
each, built for and channeled for the 2m band. Control heads and cables are
a bit rough, but still servicable.
