[Motorola] Recycling Old Micor/ Mocom 70's?

The recent email regarding old MICOR's hinted to using the PA stage combined a with more modern low power transceiver would make a nice high power VHF radio.  Has any one put together that combination or the 100w amp from a MOCOM-70?  If so is there some information as to what is needed to accomplish that recycling?   Alternately, has anyone developed a Channel Element frequency synthesizer for a MICOR or MOCOM-70.  Those old boat anchor chassis were very rugged, and they still fit into a trunk nicely.  The result would be a great receiver and a big 110W output, it would be a very good mobile.  I have one of each, built for and channeled for the 2m band.  Control heads and cables are a bit rough, but still servicable.
