[Motorola] MT-1000 Battery advice needed.

The NiMH batteries will work fine in the OEM chargers, I used them, the FD
and PD uses them, etc.. Places like Kendoo and Batteries America sell good
NiMH packs for the Genesis series. The only thing is when the complete
light comes on, on the rapid chargers and the gang charger pockets, that its
only about 85-90% complete because the NiMH need a bit longer. Give it 2-3
hours on complete and then remove them, this also goes for NiCd batteries in
the OEM chargers, but they can handle the longer trickle charge if you were
to leave them in overnight, etc.

The packs can NOT be rebuilt in any reasonable matter. The end cap on the
bottom of the battery is welded in, the only way to get it out is cut it
out, and then the other problem is the Moto originals are also filled with
hot melt glue around the cells so they can't move, so you practically need a
hammer and chisel to get the cells out. For the cost of cells you can by an
aftermarket replacement.

I have dissected a few oem batteries to make battery eliminators for test
fixtures and programming, they are a serious pain in the ass to get apart
and I don't recommend anyone go through that pain!
