Hello,

I've run an Outbacker, Hustlers, Hamsticks, original W6AAQ screwdrivers,
and finally ended up with a Hi-Q screwdriver.   I had the Hi-Q on my
2004 Chevy Silverado for well over 100,000 miles before the Lexan cover
cracked due to intense cold and I had to have it repaired.  I'm
presently in the process of figuring out how to install the Hi-Q on my
RV.  Once I switched to screwdriver antennas, there was no turning back
for me!

What I like about the Hi-Q, is that the tuning mechanism is fully
enclosed and not affected by weather.   I have seen the Tarheel product,
and recently purchased their mounts to put the Hi-Q on the RV.  They are
nice folks to deal with and make a quality product.

Interestingly enough, Jerry Sevick, W2FMI, did a detailed study of the
Hustler KW and low power coils, and found that the low power coils were
more efficient than the KW version.  That's opposite of what you would
expect.  I don't know if Jerry ever published that information?

If you don't already have them, get copies of Don Johnson's, W6AAQ,
books on HF mobiling.  The two books have a wealth of information in
them about operating HF mobile.  I believe they are readily available in
pdf format.  If you can't find them, drop me a note.
