[Mobile-Portable] HI-Q Questions

No. The only think you need is a DPDT center off switch that is spring
loaded. You can get one at Radio Shack. Don't get me wrong, the controller
is nice, but not absolutely necessary. I tune my 5/80 manually. The only
problem with the HI-Q over a conventional screwdriver is that you can't see
the position of the plunger unless the coil is back lit. That only matters
if you've gone in the wrong direction and don't know where the plunger is.
On a conventional screwdriver, the antenna changes length so you have some
idea where you are. Not so on the HI-Q. At some point I am going to
upgrade to a controller just to make life easier. Having used a number of
mobile antennas over the years, the HI-Q is absolutely tops in my book.
