[Mobile-Portable] HI-Q Questions

 Greetings folks:

Need some input on installing and controlling an
Hi-Q-5-80/RT antenna to be installed on my 2009 
Honda Accord.

It is not clear how one controls the settings of the
antenna from the "cockpit".  Do I "need" to buy
one of those DC Controllers?

Does anyone have recommendations for mounting the
Remote Head for an IC-7000?  I would prefer one of
those windshield mounts, but will they hold up in the
AZ sun?  The ones for the radar detectors do work.
