[Mobile-Portable] Amp installation

TV Electronic Newsgathering trucks typically use a solenoid to tie the two
batteries together. The solenoid is engergized when the vehicle is
running, charging both batteries. When the engine stops, the solenoid
drops out allowing you to drain the aux battery and still start the
vehicle. One nice feature is a pushbutton switch that activates the
solenoid when the vehicle is stopped. If the main vehicle battery goes
dead, you can use the switch to start the vehicle from the aux battery,
assuming it's OK.

I vote for a solenoid switch, allows pulling power from both
batteries if needed. If the battery is going to be located in the
cabin, I vote for the sealed type deep cycle battery, I think the
name is something like Optima.

Be sure to run fairly stout wire to the auxillary battery, I suggest
4 ga or 6 ga to be sure to get good charging current.
