I vote for a solenoid switch, allows pulling power from both
batteries if needed. If the battery is going to be located in the
cabin, I vote for the sealed type deep cycle battery, I think the
name is something like Optima.
Be sure to run fairly stout wire to the auxillary battery, I suggest
4 ga or 6 ga to be sure to get good charging current.
