Hi John,... Happy Saturday!
Good luck and God-speed w/ your project.
I have had a screwdriver ant. for years and it is made like the very
original one...with all mech and elec connections made and unmade in one
swoop. I don't think they are being mfgd anymore...H Stewart Designs of
Oregon City, Oregon...but maybe someone else is making that style/type.
Look on the web....
I have loved the screwdriver because it has performed well for me, but it
is big/bulky. Many times I have regretted not buying a good auto-tuner and
a long removeable whip.
I am certain that this would come in less costly and messy than the
screwdriver set-up, too (-:
That's what I would do if starting again...it's not quite so "Hammy" and
wife-scaring, and it is a pretty elegant solution. And, with a bit of
messing around I could undersling (hide!) a black 3/4 inch pvc pipe under
the car in which to store the whip when it's not in use; a glued cap on
the far end of the pipe and a screw cap on the other end for access, and
viola! ...write if you'd like details of how to do the screwcap. The whip
would probably easily follow the twists and turns the pvc pipe would have
to make to be installed under most cars/vehicles.
