You should fuse the ground side also IF you come right off at the =
battery.  The reason is that if you lose the original ground from the =
battery to the frame, a posibility of very high current exists in the =
second ground wire you just added if the original battery ground fails.  =
You can always ground to the frame instead of the battery, and then not =
need the ground wire fuse. Most gurus suggest connecting right at the =
battery, tho.

I've just finished a similar 706 / GMC x-cab pickup installation.  The =
706 is mounted under the rear seat on that little shelf.  I came from =
under the hood, along the frame, and thru the body from underneath the =
shelf in "sealtite" ( a flexible, plastic coated, mettalic lined =
electrical conduit).

Where are you mounting the control head ?  I mounted mine on a strap =
hinge which allows the head to fold down when I want to use the CD =
player which is hidden when the control head is in the up or "in use" =
position. Pix if you like...
