You need to fuse both sides... The reason is, and this happened to me, my
ground connection to my battery got a little yucky. Actually it became open.
When I tried to start my truck, the ground fuse blew in my power cables from
the rig to the battery... The starter on the engine was using my 4 GA power
cables as the return, and even with a 50 amp fuse in the line right near the
battery, it blew. Once I cleaned the battery terminals, this problem went
away. So, that fuse in the ground probably saved my radios, and definately
saved my power cable from going up in smoke...
