[Mobile-Portable] IC 706

I'm installing a IC 706 under the back seat of a 2000 GMC extended cab =
truck.  I will be running 6ga cable from the + and - side of the =
battery.  The question, is it required the fuse both lines near the =
battery or can I just fuse the + side?  If both why?
