[Mobile-Portable] Hash

"somewhere" I read about the problem I'm having, but can't find the source
or solution. Here we go...

1997 Tahoe. With NB on, things are actually very quiet. However, after a
certain period of time, I get a terrible hash... S5 to S6. Makes things
very difficult. It is not there all the time.

Tonight, as I pulled up to the house it was doing the "hash" thing. I shut
off the car. Then, for fun, I started the car... and it was gone!

I'm thinking that maybe it is the engine fan? That would explain why it is
intermittent. I believe I read this already, that it could be this... but
my question is... how to stop it???

And be easy on me... I know computers and the Internet, but I am quite the
appliance operator.
