[Mobile-Portable] HF Mobile Mount for Chevy Lumina??

I have a Hustler setup where I utilize a trailer hitch receiver and bolted a solid bar that fits inside the 2x2 receiver tubing and comes out the drivers side of the car about 6 inches. The Hustler is mounted on that. I used this on a Ford Windstar and my current Expedition. I know it's not a Lumina, but the hitch idea should work there as well. It would independent of the fiberglass body. It just has to be a minimum size receiver under the car that has open sides vs. the closed sides. You could also run a a solid bar with a 90 degree bend so the antenna could mount out of the way of the tail gate door. The Hustler's mounting mast is long enough to put the coil of the antenna just above the roof line. It works pretty well there. Anything less solid is prone to breaking off or bending. Good luck!

Subject: [Mobile-Portable] HF Mobile Mount for Chevy Lumina??

Hi folks,
This is my first post. I need to mount an HF antenna on my Chevy Lumuna van.
I currently plan to attach a Hustler mount but may at some point upgrade to
screwdriver. I don't see anyway to do it. There is no metal in roof so
magmounts won't work.
I borrowed one of the universal mounts from my local HRO and poked around the
vehicle with it but didn't see anyway for that to work either. The lips on
the doors seem to be plastic and a bit too thick for the universal mount to
attach securely or at all.
I had a mount crafted by a metal working shop for about $50.00 for my Subaru
GL wagon and that works great. It was welded onto the tie down strap
mechanism and bolts onto the chassis.
Anyone have any experience, suggestions or leads short of having something
specially crafted?
I sure appreciate it. Thanks.
