I run an IC706MkII in my 2001 Nissan Maxima. At times I get a horrible
hash sound even with the NB on. Finally found it. When it starts,
... Well, first; I live in Arizona and run either AC or heater all year
'round.

That said, This hash was finally traced to the fan motor. When the noise
starts, I merely change the fan speed and the noise disappears, for a while!

I'm guessing the rotor on the motor gets crudded up and changing speeds
'cleans' it up. Anyway, consider this as a possibility!
