WayneI believe that this dual pot has a taper in both sections.  The 500k has a clockwise "audio" taper and the 50k has a counterclockwise "audio" taper, or so it seems from the descriptions for R34 & R35.See pdf page 142/183 of: https://radionerds.com/images/5/54/TM_11-850_2.pdfYou can add a taper to a linear pot if a donor pot cannot be found, see:https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/adding-taper-and-treble-bleed-to-linear-pot.1712797/You will need a dual 1meg and 100k pot and a couple of resistors.JimLogic: Method used to arrive at the wrong conclusion, with confidence. Will also take a non-working one, if the failure mode happens to be an open between the wiper lug & the end of carbon track lugs. (I've fixed that kid of problem before.)
