Oh, that's rich. I remember sending an idea I thought would be helpful to others and the Hints and Kinks editor rejection was something like "Commercial products available - no need for hint". Wut?
I thought one of the main thrusts for the column was to share ideas on how to deal with things WITHOUT just buying something new.
I especially enjoyed how they changed the name of the column from "Hints and Kinks" to "Hints and Hacks". Gee, words can have more than one meaning, folks. "Kinks" has three or four meanings, all fairly neutral or positive (one sexual that was the perceived problem). But "Hacks" has several quite negative connotations, ranging from being a loser/unskilled to something poorly executed to criminal intrusion attack on a system.
I don't really care, but I enjoy observing these things. Their choice seemed worse somehow...
