Four Tailend Charlies were used as altimeter fuses in the Little Boy weapon. See https://images.app.goo.gl/WBdK5PidXzAskfxV6 .

There were three equipments that had similar appearance and operated in the
same band from late WWII- The APS-13 tail warning radar, the SCR-718
(BC-788) high range pulse altimeter with J-scan CRT display, and the APN-1
low range FM altimeter.

I don't remember now what I bought for about $5 that I think was some sort
of device used  in the tail of a heavy bomber.  No real use to me but I took
it apart for tube sockets (7-pin miniature) and whatever tubes they
contained.  The initiation of my "junk box" in about 1954.

But really, what can you do with a BC-645 anyway?
