My buddy and I had bicycle mobile BC-645's back on the late seventies when Fair radio was blowing them out for $4.95 for the whole kit.
We had four motorcycle batteries in series on each bike.  That ranks pretty high on the nerd factor in a small town in Wyoming in the middle seventies.

That was one hell of a load for bicycle tires, I think. 
But I think my friend Greg has exceeded that record. It amazes me how much using a network of bungee cords he can load on the back of a bike.
