Well, here's mine: just the opposite of all the above.
Nearly all the mil gear my friends brought to sell, sold and new gear
was acquired, including a Harris RF-350 set, a couple of oddball
military manpack radios, two Harris RF-5200s, three Harris RF-280s,
BC-342, BC-224D, various command set pieces, etc - all at "non-eBay
prices". I bought a SDP-1000L 1KW 3-30MHz amplifier designed for
MARS for $200, and while gas prices are outrageous, shipping is also,
and I'd never have been able to find and get something like this home
any cheaper. Hamvention is one place where you're likely to find as much
military and similar gear for sale as anywhere, as well as people who
have been collecting and restoring for many years and who will describe
things accurately and probably even help you haul it to your car!
I have no idea how the attendance compared with previous years and could
care less which commercial vendors were there or not since my interest
is in the fleamarket and seeing friends who I generally only see once a
year at Hamvention. On all counts that matter to me, this year's
event was a great success.
