Also, there are two sizes of ALICE Pack. Medium (shown in the photo) and
Large which has three smaller pockets above the three larger pockets (the
one I personally own). The Medium can be used with or without the frame
and I did so for many years.
There is also a cargo shelf that attaches to the bottom of the frame when
needed to carry bulky, rigid items such as a case of MREs or an older,
larger man-pack radio.
