First, remove the rubber seal which should involve removing a retainer ring
made of very small piano wire. Then, if you don't already have a 6- or
12-point deep pattern socket of an extra Xcelite nut driver modified for
this, using a lathe, turn enough of the OD down to about 0.005" smaller than
the ID of the toilet seat base and chamfer the sharp edge at the end. A
cheap Chinese socket will be the easiest to do as the steel will be softer
and the chrome thinner than on a comparable US made one. When finished,
save the socket or nut driver for the next time.

Subject: [Milsurplus] BC-1000 repair question
I took a preliminary look at the BC-1000 for which I have to replace one of
the jack caps. How to remove
the jack fixing nut? Use some tool, like a long, narrow wall socket, to
reach down into there? Like some
tool from a guitar maker supply ? Or what do you suggest ?
tnx, Hue
