So does this say the -7 contract was somehow issued after the -8 contract ??
I too have never seen a -7 or even one offered.
My guess is that the most common model, and used in all the famous sites, was the -4.
It seems most numerous to me. "Seems", not scientific. I have a -2, a -4, and a -4a, but I
don't recall what the "a" means. I read that the -6 was the "Coast Guard model" and I
have wondered, does that mean less or no radium paint?
There was an attractive -6 recently on Epay for $200, no cabinet. I offered no $150, not
accepted. I do have a cabinet I could have used. But 200, no not me, and maintain my
self respect. So someone else did actually jump on it. Good luck finding your cabinet, pal.

>According to the Navy Type Number Book, NAVSHIPS 900,109 (September 1945):

CGQ-43060 TBX-8 (4/27/44) (Garod)
CG -43060-A TBX-7 (9/14/44) (General Electric)
-> Same as -43060 except for type of meter multiplier resistors.

I remember a humorous letter sent to CQ MAG more than 60 years ago which stated according the military's JAN nomenclature system, the TBX-* was a Ground Transportable Pidgeon Used for Identification Friend or Foe. (Back then, B in the second position meant the associated system pertained to carrier pidgeon communications.)

PS: I've never seen a TBX-7.
