Reference 'AWA Journal', Winter 2015, Vol. 56-1.
YES,
"The HRO-5 was produced by National for the Second World War, primarily in the U.K.
It was an improved version of the HRO-MX using metal octal base tubes except for the 6V6.
…The HRO-W was the last HRO model produced by National for the U.K. military for use in
the Pacific theater of operations."

"Apparently the HRO-W did not sell well in the commercial [ post war ] market, so the company
converted HRO-W to HRO-5TA1."

I have one "exception" note to the article. So, the definitive compilation of HRO models has not
yet be written. May never be ?

Anyway I was wrong about the model most used by the Y intercept stations.

It looks to me like this E-book is a take at one remove from the actual sources. The Y station
memoir I read actually names the earlier Brit manufactured receivers which were used also
but not preferred.
