Well, what's perplexing, if you think the tester is misperforming, is that it DOES pass some of the crystals.
I am trying to downsize, at the same time, so I didn't want to get sidetracked with a signal generator and scope setup
right now, versus just using the crystal tester. I will eventually want to use the scope method. And this reminds me,
up in WA state, I have a couple military issue crystal testers stored. All the more reason to clear the decks here
so I can relocate.
I think what I'm going to do is, retain crystals that "may" be useful, like the 455, 465, and 500 kHz neighborhoods.
I have 9 of those already, but every one of those failed !
I will retain those potentially useful ones for "further testing" and maybe even opening and possible repair.
The tester failed an HC-6 455 kHz canned rock too, which was disappointing, as I'm sure I paid good money for that rock.
But it did pass the 100 kHz canned rock ( a large metal can ).
