And if it's in the RF stage, it takes out a resistor, too. In the other stages, it just kills the signal for that band.  Several different fixes for those APC-like trimmers depending on how hard one wishes to work.

Mark,The RBM receiver is subject to the trimmer capacitor rotor shifting endwise and shorting out.  That disease has been discussed here several times over the years.  
It is broad as a barn door.  Fun enough to use on an empty band but 75 meters at night on the east coast, maybe not so much.
