The TCH RF output power is 12 - 15 watts CW and 5 watt AM. This was to keep drain on battery approximately the same. The reason I suggested its use in place of the 3BZ is the frequency and CW power
are in the same range. With a stronger power source, bigger dynamotor, the AM power could have been upped, as its 807 modulated by 2 6V6.
I suggest the TCS switching to only 1 of 2 1625 RF tubes in AM mode was to protect the modulation transformer as well as to also keep the total power drain equivalent.

"Maybe something like the U.S. Navy's TCH, but with the AM transmit power not down-limited from CW." That statement was made by a member in the last digest mailing. I have a TCS-12 and the AM power is also down-limited from CW power. Does anyone know why it was designed this way? And is it possible to bring AM power up to CW power ratings on a TCS-12? Thanks for any info.
