While I am overdoing it on NWVRS emails today, let me maybe mention....
as a long term project, I am interested in:
1. radio manufacturers of Oregon and Washington. Intervox, Radio Laboritories, P.A.R., Oregon Electronics, Radio Specialty Company.
Most of the products I know about, happen to be non home-entertainment type things.
I really haven't started to systematically file information on these companies, so far it's only been some paper docs and remembered anecdotes.
2. Surplus stores of Oregon and Washington. I mostly know about Seattle as I lived there for many years. Ziddell, Pacific Surplus, Nuclear Electronics,
Washington Liquidators....
If you are interested in these also, or have anecdotes, please contact me off-list.
Here's a photo of the 'Spokane Radio Company' catalog 1940. It's kind of like a huge Allied Radio catalog; actually bigger than the Allied catalog of the
same years. Spokane Radio built Forest Service radios, most notably the model SPF-AF for the Army's forest fire fighting troops in 1944 and also, I was told, some kind of radio for hospital bedside use, but I have never seen one of those.
Unfortunately the catalog has no mention of any Spokane Radio - built product, just parts and radio equipment from other manufacturers.
thanks-
Hue Miller
