Yes. I had forgotten that shore stations had 3 letter calls. KPH and KSM come to mind. All 
the Navy VLF shore stations had/have three letter calls. NPM, NPG, NLK, NAA, NWC, etc.

So, I am even more convinced that KMZR was a ship. After all, the FCC routinely re-issues 
calls. Mine, W7EKB, was originally held by a fellow in 1930. It was reissued to me in 1956, 
26 years later.
