To me, that would seem to say, and just a guess, that the -6 was not intended for war-zone use.
I am very curious about the early TBYs, the ones with the painted-on "nameplate" and the two pilot lamps, compared to the later suffixes.
Well, another entry for the "to-do" list.

The TBX-6 is cold, no radium at all. My vote for the "hottest radio" is and always will be the TBY. Have been able to get a reading from one with a good survey meter almost ten feet away, significantly hotter than anything else I have encountered except some of the Russian stuff that has radium paint on the surface.
