[Milsurplus] BC-9

The TBX-6 is cold, no radium at all. My vote for the "hottest radio" is and always will be the TBY. Have been able to get a reading from one with a good survey meter almost ten feet away, significantly hotter than anything else I have encountered except some of the Russian stuff that has radium paint on the surface.

Are you sure the TBX-8 is any different? The only TBX I have heard that doesn't have radium is the -6, and that's only "heard it".
( Do need to get my PDR-27S powered up for some investigating....) I wonder about the early TBYs, say thru TBY-2, which had 2 lamps on the front panel.

>Hi Dave,
Well, the same thing is true for all the owners of the TBY, Gibson Dirl and the early TBX sets since they have the Radium paint right on their front panels. Ya pays yer money and ya takes your chances...

I hope whomever gets this BC-9 knows how to handle Radium dust.
The meter cover is broken.
