Hue and the group, note that there are TWO Northern Radios. There's the
one in Seattle that was (and maybe is?) a manufacturer mostly of marine
radios. Then there's the Northern Radio that was located in Manhattan,
founded by Sal Barone in the late 40's, that made items like the 253 and
others. You can find manuals and other info about THAT Northern Radio at:

Northern made all sorts of equipment, but as time went on, they seem to
have somewhat specialized on wire-line TTY gizmos of various kinds.
Sal Barone worked for Press Wireless during WW2.. his boss at PreWi was Ray
de Pasquale, founder of TMC. It's no accident that Northern and TMC
products had similar 'looks'.. :)
