This thread solved a mystery for me.

In an old B movie, "Steel Lady", there is a shot of a radio set
in an aircraft. I have always wondered what it was, it didn't
look close to anything I have seen.

Well, it is very, very close to the Philco SCR-583 set shown in
the manual. A few slight differences, the radio in the movie had
two knobs where the book shows the one "ANTENNA TUNING SWITCH"
and a different style nameplate.

The shots in the movie are too fuzzy to read the nameplate though.

The movie itself is about an oil exploration crew that is forced down
in a sandstorm. No, this is not Flight of the Phoenix. The radio plays
a part in the story as the aircraft radio operator tries to fix the
radio, but only manages to get out a few words before it quits. The crew
discovers a buried German Tank (this is North Africa) gets it running,
and then has adventures with the locals.

I am going to try and attach a screen shot of the radio taken from the
movie. If it doesn't go through, I'll email it to anyone who'd like to
see it.
