The SCR-538 set ad i saw is in Radio News for March 1946, 118. " $215 
plus crating FOB Chicago. Gov't paid Approx. $1775 for set.
....Only 11 Left"
Quite a pile of equipment.
Probably for foreign military buyers, tho, the SCR-284 would have been a 
better value, more standard, more parts available.
