Another set that seems to be pretty uncommon was the SCR-583 ( BC-1209
). This is the one that G&G was offering for years.
( I bought the last one - at that time no accessory items were
available. ) ( And the FM-41 will not fit; the BC-1209 is larger and
and the mount more complicated. ) I wonder how many of those sets were
produced. I just came across an ad from another
surplus sellier in the late 1940s offering 11 of them. BTW, the Feb.
1944 Radio News, special Signal Corps edition misidentifies
another set as a SCR-583. As i recall, it's something like the "Lucy"
receiver they call a SCR-583. I think i even read in the ad
that set can be operated even in "driving rain". Well, not quite, i
think.
While i'm on that copy, on a page of foreign equipment, they have
reversed the captions of the Mitsubishi bomber radio and
the other radio on that page.
