So here's an experiment someone can try. Take your Hallicrafters S-40, or
any old superhet with an RF stage.

Key the oscillator tube B+ . With another receiver for actual receiving, use
the keyed S-40 on any ham band 

and call CQ. See how much DX you can work.  

There's a difference between the levels of receiver LO radiation that
bothers another receiver at the same

address and enough radiation to be detected at some non-near field distance.
