George,

You were probably thinking of the later AN/SRR-19, an LF/VLF set that was 
large and quite heavy.

AN/GRC-14 was designed to do CW, AM and RATT.  As AN/VRC-29, so was the 
Collins set.  But it required two additional units each the same size as the 
R-392 whereas the RATT function was built into the AN/GRC-14.transmitter and 
receivers.
