Earlier today I mentioned a RAY-3 control receiver incorrectly as a glide bomb control. It is instead used as a Gorgon II pulse-jet missile control receiver. A photo of the front panel plate of the RAY-3 on a NASM display Gorgon II is shown and discussed on Mike Hanz's site:

Below is the info on my RAY-3.

Large top plate:

RADIO RECEIVER
NAVY TYPE RAY-3
CONTRACT N288s-15485 DATE 7-21-43
REQUISITION 6000-25037
SERIAL NO. 13
MANUFACTURED BY
DOOLITTLE RADIO INC.
FOR
NAVY DEPARTMENT
BUREAU OF AERONAUTICS

Small front-panel plate:

RADIO RECEIVER
MODEL PR6N SERIAL 638
DOOLITTLE RADIO INC.
CHICAGO, ILL.
SUPPLY VOLTS 14 DC
WEIGHT 18 LBS

It is an 11 octal tube superheterodyne with an internal dynamotor and an operating frequency tag marked "38 580 KC". It has a local volume control, power switch, and OUTPUT LEVEL ac voltmeter. I believe it is a commercial product adopted for military use.

It's an unusual item.
