[Milsurplus] Blood n Guts

It took me ten years to understand the big picture when it comes to
offshoring.

Basically in a nutshell, it is a game of musical countries.

This school of thought creates a new middle class in other countries and
destroys the middle class in existing countries.
---
The U.S.-based CEO of one of the world's largest hedge funds told me that
his firm's investment committee often discusses the question of who wins and
who loses in today's economy. In a recent internal debate, he said, one of
his senior colleagues had argued that the hollowing-out of the American
middle class didn't really matter. "His point was that if the transformation
of the world economy lifts four people in China and India out of poverty and
into the middle class, and meanwhile means one American drops out of the
middle class, that's not such a bad trade," the CEO recalled. - See more at:

Then, before the world can realize the effects of the new middle class, this
school of thought destroys the new middle class and the game of musical
countries continues.

---
"We have been seeing wage inflation over the past several months,'' said
Chris Ruffle, who helps manage $19 billion as China co-chairman of Martin
Currie Ltd. Rising salaries may prompt businesses that operate plants in
China to move to lower-cost countries such as Vietnam and Cambodia, Ruffle

The problem with both theories is they do not look out far enough into the
future.

If you will take the current figures for any country in our world and (a)
destroy the middle class jobs in America and Europe, and (b) create a new
middle class in the BRIC countries, and then repeat the process using every
country in the world, you will find that the overall wages for the world
dramatically drops each time the game is played.

This is why the economy continues to grow worse no matter how much money is
thrown at it.

I wrote a article sometime back called "Fools Gold" where I attempt to
explain this.

http://keepamericaatwork.com/editorial/fools-gold-gold-tar-feathers/

Basically we are doing this when we play the game of musical countries.

---

Whether you agree with these two thoughts or not, I do want you to prove
this wrong.

We are throwing away $ 50,000,000,000,000,000.00 (this is our bird in hand)

We are chasing $ 5,000,000,000,000,000.00 plus $
1,860,000,000,000,000.00

This is $ 6,860,000,000,000,000.00 (this is our bird in the bush)

Where is the sense in that?

Do you now understand why all of our governments the world over are saying
that we are broke?

Problem is, Frank, many times there isn't an option to buy American.

In one of the discussion groups, one of the off-topic drifts went to CFLs.

I don't want to drift into the merits or demerits of CFLs, that isn't the
point, but related, I had read an article about GE closing an incandescent
lamp bulb manufacturing operation in, I believe, Winchester, VA.

I recall that GE had given some thought to converting the plant to
manufacturing CFLs, but GE conceded the US made CFLs would be somewhere
30-40% more expensive. They decided they'd not even give it a shot, and
therefore, there simply isn't the wallet option available on this product or
for that matter many others.

There are people that claim to be patriots, and then they buy Chinese crap
at harbor freight! Personally, I don't get it. I buy American, even if it
costs more! Go USA!!!!!!
