[Milsurplus] Attaching cable to MS connectors

Sorry, I meant to add some detail.
I place the MS connector in a vise. Then I use a set of "helping hands" alligator clip stand thingy and use that to orient the cable over the MS connector. I do not load the solder cup with solder in advance. After sliding up a bit of heat shrink tubing, I set the wire into the solder cup so the wire is sitting in there ready to go. Then I have two hands available for the solder and for the soldering iron. This gives me the most control. Now admittedly, sometimes the wire pops out of the solder cup, but I just need to bias the wire properly so it is pushing itself into the cup, pressing against the longer side of the cup.

Here's one I did.

The first few pix are of a DB25, not an MS. But then there is the MS cable I made. Had about 19 wires connected. I do use heat shrink as you will see. I push the tube up as far as I can, often using some tape to hold it away from the connection. I also often use a hemostat on the wire between the solder joint and the heat shrink tube to help sink some of the heat. I've never had a problem with this technique.

It helps to lay out all the parts on the table in the order they are to be assembled, and check against the print.
And second the use of non-shrink tubing. Either varnished Cambric or Teflon work well. Vinyl can be used, but it's trickier.
