 A reaction to John F's comment:

   But aren't you already a charter member ?

   Many of the members of our present day internet radio
   reflectors got their start in radio by hamifying these míl rigs
   and otherwise would not even be here, reading this.
   I assume that you and your co-champions of pristine purity
   would also insist that military field changes to modify in order
   to improve, customize for new applications and to
   remedy gear deficiency are exempt and not to be
   considered mods.  So if you change a rig while you're in
   uniform it's sanctioned -- but do it when you're
   back in your civvies is a no-no .
   But then again, the world would a dreary place indeed,
   if we all had the same point of view.
