Carl,

That story on the HT's on FBI freq reminded me of an incident back in the
early '60s at Salina, KS. Home of Schilling AFB, a SAC facility. A bunch of
survival radios got dumped surplus at local salvage yard, think they were on
243Mhz. Had power cords cut off, but some enterprising fellows found they
could repair that and power them with a bunch of 'D' cells. Anyhow, they
were using them for coyote hunting, 6 or 7 guys involved. Guess this went
on for a few weeks. One night, a local sheriff's deputy accompanied by 3
armed 'Seven High' Air Police security guards and a technician showed up at
one guy's door. They found names of others and rounded up the gear, smashed
it and issued a "non appearance summons" by the deputy. I guess the Air
Police guys were NOT very pleasant with their tongue lashing.
(I hand shown them how to build the battery box!)
