The original AC supply for the Canadian Wireless Set 19 MkIII has a
ferro-resonant transformer which has a special winding connected in
parallel with a resonating capacitor designed so that the resonant
frequency of the circuit is the line input frequency. With the special
arrangement and magnetics arrangement of the core, the "ferro resonant
transformer" has voltage regulating properties. For proper output
voltage, loading and regulation the appropriate taps have to be
connected also depending on the input line frequency.
