You're right when it came to washing machine motors, my stateside washing machine, when shipped to Germany didn't last long, the motor was rewound and worked very well in Germany. when returned to the states worked very good and no trouble. I imagined the RPM was affected.

There was some mention of tranformer strapping vs
input frequency in an earlier post.....
I always believed, possibly wrongly, that a
transformer could be used at a higher
frequency than it was originally made for but not
the reverse....meaning I could use
a 60 cycle power transformer at 400 cycles but
could not use a 400 cycle transformer
at 60 cycles because the 400 cycle transformer used
less iron in the core.
Is my thinking on this correct?
