Seems perfectly reasonable.  The principle airborne panadapter of the 
war (the AN/APA-10) was an either/or situation, although it was just a 
rotary switch throw to go back and forth between three different 
receivers.  The 30MHz IF APR-4 capability was a bit primitive, however, 
requiring you to continually turn a manual sweep knob back and forth to 
see the entire scanning width.  The AAF guys always seemed to have 
manual labor associated with their operator instructions.... :-D
