I wondered the same things about the Halli R-649 series. They used a
pair of 25L6s for output, but I don't recall any higher voltage tubes
than that. Along with the P-P audio, it's explained by the higher tube
count and overall quality compared to the average AC/DC set and makes
for an interesting answer to the CG's needs.
